Your mission
  • Design and architect the whole comms network for unmanned systems, all the way from setting up system diagrams to selecting the components to use.

  • Comfortable with VHF, UHF, L-Band and S-Band RF systems plus commercial and military LEO satellite constellations.

  • Proficient in software flashing, ground station operation, and subsystem integration.

  • Evaluate and optimize communication system performance

  • Familiar with all the elements in a comms network, including antennas, circuit boards, wire harnesses, communication protocols, data links and satellite terminals.

  • Rapidly iterate on prototypes, especially with creative or scrappy ideas

  • Keep track of engineering changes and own your configuration management

  • Manage software / hardware interfaces

  • Manage licences (MAN IA, MAN IC)

  • Flash firmware (radio and control software), configure integrate and operate GCS

  • Support trials, mission operations and demonstration teams as needed

Qualifications
  • Background in radio communication / RF / HF engineering

  • Electronic knowledge / hands on setting up hardware

  • Linux (Ubuntu) and Python experience

  • C/C++ programming 

  • Experience with Ardupilot / PX4 / Autopilot software applications along with their corresponding ground station applications

  • Ability to travel regularly to the Devon and Dorset Area at least 3 days a week
  • Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance
